All about camp
WASAC Kids Camp is a one week summer day camp offered to kids from over 80 schools in Winnipeg, completely free of charge. Lunch, snacks and all activities are provided.
Each morning, the kids get dropped off at their school (or designated pickup school) and then get picked up by WASAC leaders on a school bus, which brings them to camp at the Old Exhibition Grounds. At the end of the day, the bus brings them back to their school.
Activities at WASAC include :
- traditional aboriginal games
- floor hockey
- arts and crafts
- aboriginal culture
Monday, everyone gets into their groups by grade, meets their new friends and their leaders, and then gets their t-shirts. The rest of the day and Tuesday are normal days at camp, filled with the above activities.
Wednesday is relay day. We get into teams in the field and compete in relay races. There is also a big dodgeball tournament!
Thursday is carnival day. We have a bouncy obstacle course, a bouncy slide, mascots, face paint, cotton candy, and lots of carnival games!
Friday is movie day. We go to Northgate Cineplex and see a movie. Everyone gets free popcorn, drinks, and candy. We then have a BBQ lunch. At the end of the day, the kids can get their new friends and their favourite leaders to sign their shirts and then they can take them as a souvenir.
